Nvidia officially released the latest smart car and self-driving car chipset-DRIVE Atlan. The computing power of a single chip can reach 1000 TOPS and will be used in L4 and L5 level autonomous driving.
It is reported that the chip will begin to provide samples to automakers and developers in 2023 at the earliest, and models that will be on the market around 2025 may be equipped.
Of course, some car companies that can’t wait may rush away by the end of 2024.
The new self-driving chip Atlan, the computing power of a single chip can reach 1000TOPS, this is also the industry’s first chip to reach 1000TOPS computing power, which exceeds the computing power of most L4 autonomous vehicles today.
For reference, the previous generation Orin has a computing power of 254 TOPS,
while Tesla’s self-developed chip has a computing power of 144 TOPS. It is enough to see the strong strength of NVIDIA Atlan.
Atlan SoC has ampere architecture GPU core, Arm-based Grace CPU core,
deep learning and computer vision accelerator unit, and BlueField DPU core. Atlan SoC will provide developers with samples in 2023 and a large number of vehicles will be installed in 2025.
At the same time,
NVIDIA also announced the latest L4-level autonomous driving development vehicle Hyperion 8.
The vehicle is equipped with 2 NVIDIA Orin SoCs for autonomous driving calculations, and 1 Orin SoC is used to monitor the safety of the car.
At the same time, 4 Orin SoCs and 4 MLNX are used. The chip records the 3D environment.
The sensors outside the car use 8 8 million pixels, 4 3 million pixel fisheye cameras, 3 cockpit cameras, 9 millimeter wave radars, and 2 lidars.
This development vehicle will be open to developers at the end of this year.
Huang Renxun also announced that the autonomous driving simulation platform DRIVE Sim will be available this summer.
